TxTrikes is dedicated to the desimination of information for the modification of Harley Davidson Motorcycles for individuals with unique requirements. Our service is the result of developing a special Bike for our own needs. Pursuing the modification of a Harley Trike for Handlebar Shift Capabilities, we were amazed at the lack of available information. The purpose of this site is to present our findings. Hopefully our experience will be of use.

Our first design addresses conversion of a Harley Davidson FXR Trike to accomodate Rick C. a Vietnam Vet whose injuries resulted in the loss of his left leg. As a result - Rick cannot support the bike when at a stand still or use a toe shifter to change gears on his bike. The first problem was solved by the purchase of a FXR Trike. The three wheel stance allows Rick to mount the bike and come to a stand still without any problems. Shifting it once moving, was another story. This required the complete conversion of the shifter to a pushbutton / handlebar shifter. The following presents all components needed, and the particulars of how the conversion was accomplished.
